Saini Smiles – 2 Canyon State – 9
Canyon State used balanced hitting to outpace Saini Smiles 9-2. The Canyon States hitting attack was led by the three hits each of Jerry Bianchi, Mike Norcio, Dave Bjornlie, and Mike Currie. Norcio, Bjornlie and Currie also had doubles to aid in the win and Bjornlie drove in four. Dan Bradstreet was the only Smiles batter to have more than two hits with three. Canyon State pitcher Jesse Nelson allowed no extra base hits in the win.
Paul Tone – 15 Desert Rose – 6
With the loss of both second-place teams Paul Tone has claimed the 2024 fall session championship. Tone used 30 hits to claim the win over Desert Rose. The game was close until the final inning with Tone leading of 8-6. In the top of the seventh Paul Tone exploded for seven runs to put the game away. Leading hitters for Paul Tone were Greg Potts and Glen Hower who were good for four hits each. Following with three hits each were Lee Thompson (2B), John Derylo (3B), Rich Berndt, Ralph Benjamin and Arvid Peterson. Brian Melody also added a double. For Rose Pete Nardella had four hits including two doubles. Following close behind with three hits were Ron Bedford (2B) and Leon Kott (2B).
Team Peterson – 9 Phoenix Sports – 19
Phoenix Sports opened with three four run innings in the first three to take a quick 12-4 lead over Team Peterson before ending with a 19-9 win. Sports had the hot bats today as they lashed 28 hits. With four hits each were Max Beckner (3B), Jim Montgomery (2B, 3 RBIs), and Mike Faunt (3 RBIs). Pierre Coulombe and Pat Regan added three hits each. Peggy Stallbaum also knocked in three runs for the winners. Terry Zellers and Sub Glen Hower were the lone Peterson batter with more than two hits as they each put three in the scoresheet. Dave Utzinger lashed two doubles and Chuck McFarland one.
Realty One – 17 Hole N One – 12
Realty One also had some hot bats today as they were good for 29 hits in their 17-12 win over Hole N One. Leading the way with four hits was leadoff hitter Paul Felice. Seven realtors were good for three hits each. They were Steve Engels, Tony Dinato, Craig Martin, Mel Bentley, Chris Peltekian (2B), Ken Morales and sub Dan Behrs (3B). Realty One was helped by posting four 4-run innings. Hole N One had some strong hitters also led by the three hits each of Tim Barkes (2-2B), Mike Van Wie (3 RBIs), Trevor Cornett, Lloyd Styrwoll and sub Ron Stallbaum (3 RBIs). Larry Shively was good for two doubles.
