WE ARE IN NEED OF CONSOLE OPERATORS AND SCORERS. Ask your manager for training! Reminder: Use the Sub List first. They deserve to play.
Game 1: Encore Floors - 6 Stella’s Wish – 5
(Battle of the Bigs - Game)
What was going on here? It was to prove the two top teams we about defense and minimal errors. As the 3rd inning ended, the score was a paltry 3/1 Sella’s, and it looked like they might maintain and increase their session lead. When Encore came to bat, they batted in three runs to show Stella’s what they could do. Stella’s unperturbed, added 2 runs back in the 4th inning, but then went scoreless in the 5th inning while Encore added 2 runs for the upset of Stella’s Wish. Jim Slocks Triple and Donna Reeds bagged the only 2 extra bases of the game. Encore won the Hit count with 18/15 over the Wishers. Manager Donna Reed was perfect at 3/3, as was ‘Steady Eddy’ Larry Ramirez. Stan Czysz and Colonel Steven Alexander were 2/2. What’s going on with the Colonel? From the scorer’s booth, we could see a proportional speed increase. Nice!
Speaking of what’s going on with whom. Did you watch Manager Kelly Fraley handle the 3rd Base BAG? Whoa! John Berg with sub player Ray Barone went 3/3. Hall of Famer Dennis Farrar and Benjie B. went clean 2/2. There were no extra bases for Encore Floor. This was a squeaker that would set the tone for the days play.
Game 2: Sun Canyon Bank(SCB) – 10 Desert Sun Embroidery (DSE) – 9 \
(The close encounter -Game)
Ok, now this game had it all it! It was nearly a tie, but it wasn’t. Runs scored in every inning by one team or another, and the crazy 2nd inning, which saw the most bizarre triple play I have ever seen. 11-3-4 shut the door! FINALLY, we were to see some cool extra baggers that have been missing since Turkey Time. A triple and two doubles for the bankers and 3 doubles. The Triple was the manager, Nick Prestia. A brutal strike up the middle had the fielders chasing after it. Prestia was a pumpin’ and a thumpin’ all he could muster, which in fact, was not too bad, actually Good! The 2-baggers were added by Steven Carr and the man himself, Mr. Art Barr Jr. At 80-something, he’s still as effective as he was when I arrived here 15 years ago. Art, Leslie Love, and Charles Powell were all 3/3.
For DSE, Gerald Switalski went 4/4 with a double. Tom Smithpeters was also 4/4 as was manager, Hall of Fame member, Bev Burger. Bev also doubled. One last double was supplied by Sub Ernie Huxhold. LOL! The hit count, although neck & neck, goes in favor of DSE 23/22. DSE tried to close the 2-run gap but could only muster 1 in the open inning. I actually announced this game and would personally like to thank both teams for their courageous efforts. It was a totally fun time for all the watchers and players.
Game 3: Larry Ott Realty – 6 (Visitors) – 3 HR Johnson Team - 3
(The Kissin’ Cousins - Game)
Ummm…..WOW. This can not be a fan favorite! 6 innings with 1 run scored by the RH Johson team, and that was in the 5th. This then led to a scoreless 6th inning. There was easily enough time for a 7th inning. 5 runs were scored in the 7th. All for nought as the game ended tied.
Larry Ott’s Diane McaLeavey, burned the outfield with a well-struck ball and is now packing a Triple. Great Job!
The hit count was 12/12….Well, How about that? No one was perfect. Was it the sun? Was it the last game of the day? Maybe it was their incredible defenses with a never-say-die! Attitude!
Epilogue: Remember, it’s a pleasure to play. Many Seniors can’t. The next time something ‘Rocks your Boat’ Give it a second thought. Enjoy the Day!
As Christmas approaches, it’s easy to get distracted. Take care, stay focused!
