NL Games 01/16/2026
Dennis Horvath - Reporting

Prologue: 1. The National League should once again have 7 teams.
                 2. National League Draft: Thursday the 22nd
                 3. Two Games left in the session.

Game 1: Stella’s Wishes – 7 vs Encore Flooring - 2 (Battle of the Big Dogs– Game) Encore Flooring, led by Kelly Fraley, came out cold, scoring only 2 in the 2nd with no extra bases, and Scott Danner and Phil Lund were the only perfect batters at 3/3. Stella’s came out swinging and scored 3 in the 1st inning. Stella’s tried to wait for the Floorman and never scored again until they scored a perfect 4/4, making the score 7 to 2 for Stella’s, the winners. Oddly, once again, the Hit totals were even at 15 all. Larry Ramirez Homered in the 1st sparking two (2) Homers in the 6th which sealed the deal for Stella’s. Mike Dahnert and Bob Cushman Homered joining Ramirez. Cushman was also the only perfect batter at 3/3. The ‘Pitcher, AKA ‘The Dealer', besides giving up only 1-walk smashed a double.

Game 2: HR Johnson Team (RHJT) – 10 vs Larry Ott Realty - 8 (Battle of the Realtors - Game) Crazy! It took RHJT 25 hits to subdue Larry Ott Realty with only 15 hits by 2 runs! HRJT spread their runs over every inning except the 5th. Jim Fieser went wild with 3 doubles. Doubles were added by teammates Rich McKinney and Ken Fecko. Dave Meincke connected with a solid Triple. Extra bases were scarcer for Larry Ott. Jack ‘Howitzer Hewitt did it again, scoring a Double. Kevin Schuck and Fred Ostermeyer were both 3/3. Larry Ott looked like they were to take a trouncing, scoring all 8 runs in the 4 & 6 innings. It was a good game with apt defense plays. All HRJT batters made 4 trips to the plate. Heather Johnson was 4/4, as was Dave Meincke. Fieser was 3/4, and Barb Ruzic gets an Honorable mention with an unusual 5 trips to the plate resulting in a 5/3 effort.

Game 3: Desert Sun Embroidery - 11 vs Sun Cayon Bank- 10 (The Nail-Biter - Game) WOW!! The hit count looked ok at 23/22 but it went to the losers if you could call either team a loser in this slugfest. All batters made at least 3 trips to the plate. DSE sent 8 of their 11 for the 4th trip, while SCB sent 5 of theirs for a 4th trip. Of 22 players, only 1 came away hitless! For DSE, Sub Mark Wells was 4/4, as was SCB’s Art Barr, who was 4/4. Many of the batters had two hits, and several had three hits. The difference was the flipped 6th Open inning. DSE boarded 5, and SCB boarded 3. If you missed this game. Go back to the Video recordings. It is a recommended watch!

Epilogue: T’was a great day at Liberty Field. Fine weather, fine friends, good teammates, and adult rivalries. Some kinda Winter, hey?
