AL Write-Up - March 3 2026

Game 1 : Liberty Buick vs Edward Jones. 

Both teams scored 3 runs in the opening inning, for Liberty Brent Williams drilled a 3B off the RF wall and Jones after a (sub) Randy Coutts HR over LF wall 3-3. 

Liberty took the lead after a solo run then held Jones without a run 4-3. Top of 3rd the Buicks added some fuel after doubles from Brent Williams and Orie McDonald helped plate 4 runs now lead 8-3. Jones added a run in bottom half 8-4. 

Liberty blanked in top of 4th, then the investors deposited 4 run max on 7 hits including a Mark Sertic 2B all tied at 8 apiece. The Buicks shut down for 2nd straight inning then Jones forged ahead with 3 runs on 6 straight hits with a walk 11-8 Jones. 3rd inning in a row Liberty failed to score, Jones couldn’t capitalize scoring no runs still 11-8. 

Top of 7th Liberty scored 2 runs after a Brent Williams HR but fell short as Jones wins 11-10.

Game 2: Western Bank vs Classic Car Wash 

This game was never in question as Western made 6 deposits in first 2 innings as (sub) Brent Williams doubled twice & Greg Bisnett added one of his own as Classic scored a solo run 6-1. 

Top of 3rd Western failed to score and Classic added another solo run 6-2. 4th inning the Bankers added another 3 runs as (sub) Williams added his 3rd double and Bisnett his 2nd, 9-2. Classic didn’t score in the 4th or 5th still 9-2. 

Western added 2 more runs 11-2. The Car Wash mustered another run 11-3. A flip flop game as Classic was shut down final 11-3 Western Bank.

Classic: (sub) Brian Hotze 3-4 2B, (sub) Steve Fedie 2-3, Mark Landhuis 2-3 

Game 3: Camino Del Sol vs Home Smart 

This turned out to be a wild game with both teams struggling defensively and both teams pounding out lots of hits. It became abundantly clear early that the rail birds were rooting loudly for Camino. Camino scored 3 runs in the 1st inning after (sub) Al Renico doubled to lead off the game. Camino added 5 more hits then held Home scoreless 3-0. This would be the only inning either team would fail to score. 

Both teams scored max 4 runs in the 2nd inning. 7 straight hits for Camino and big hit for Home, a Tony Perillo 2B 7-4. The Gravediggers added 2 more runs after Ed Prather doubled, Home Smart answered with 3 runs on 6 hits now 9-7 Camino. 

Top of the 4th Camino went max 4 runs after Frank Mervyn doubled with the bases loaded 13-7. Home added 2 runs now 13-9. In the 5th Camino added a solo run and Smart added 2 runs 14-10. 

The Gravediggers tried to put this game away in the 6th by adding another max 4 runs for the 3rd time extending the lead 18-10. Bottom of the 6th Home Smart got 3 doubles from Joe Zine, Jeff Upton and Tim Barkes to add 3 runs 18-14 after 6. 

Top of 7th open inning Camino added a solo run after another Frank Mervyn 2B 19-14. Last chance for Home Smart to remain unbeaten as the crowd gathered with chants of Camino. Matt Schacht lead off with his 5th hit for the game followed by Cliff Chapin 1B, manager Joe Zine 2B plated a run 19-15. Jeff Upton singled in another run 19-16. Back to Back hits with a fielders choice forced out Zine a Home. A sacrifice fly ball RBI scored another run 19-17. Tony Perillo drilled a double with 2 outs and bases loaded to to tie the game 19 ALL. Rodney Roth singled to put runners on the corners. JP Guzic stepped in to deliver the game winner for Home Smart 20-19 win after scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the 7th.
