CENTRAL LEAGUE WRITE UPS AND STANDINGS

Team Peterson – 2 Paul Tone – 14 

League champions Paul Tone got back on the winning track with a convincing 14-2 win over Team Peterson. Tone scored in each inning led by the three hits each of Lee Thompson, John Derylo (2B), Jim Dohrmann and Ross Rhodes. Rhodes limited Team Perterson to just eight hits and one lone extra base hit. A triple by Dave Utzinger was one of the few highlights for Peterson today. 

Canyon State – 12 Hole N One – 9 

Hole N One scored eight through the first two innings, but it was scoring only one more that allowed Canyon State to catch up and tie them after six. Canyon State then pulled out the win by scoring three in the top of the seventh to take home a 12-9 win. Leadoff hitter Jerry Bianchi led the Canyon State comeback with four hits including a double. Following him with three hits were Mike Norcio and Tommy Theoharis (3B, 3 RBIs). Hole N One matched State in hits but fell short in the run department. They got four hits from both Trevor Cornett and Lloyd Styrwoll (3 RBIs) followed by three hits from Mike Van Wie and Marcel Mantha. 

Phoenix Sports – 2 Desert Rose – 6 

Desert Rose scored four in the bottom of the fifth to break open a close game and to record a 6-2 win. This was a pitcher’s duel for most of the game as Roses’ Lee Anderson and Sports’ Tom Turner allowed no batter on either team to have more than two hits. Each team managed just one extra base hit. Dave Siegel had a double for Desert Rose and Pierre Coulombe doubled for Phoenix Sports. 

Saini Smiles – 10 Realty One – 6 

Saini Smiles finished up the day’s schedule with a 10-6 win over Realty One. Smiles jumped off to a quick 6-1 lead after two and never looked back. Garnering three hits for Smiles were Don Wickersham, Bob Ross and Stephanie Cummings. Ron Camarata had Smiles only extra base hit as he stroked a double for Smiles. Craig Martin was the only Realty One batter with more than two hits as he was good for three. Tony Dinato added a double to the Realty One scoresheet.
