CENTRAL LEAGUE WRITE AND STANDING

Three four-run innings paced Big O Tire to maintain a share of first place in the league.  Ronnie Guest was 4/4 followed by three hits from sub Bill Connor (double), Frank Faciano (triple) and Frank Matyja.  Dave Oliver and Rickie Rishel (three RBI) doubled for the victors and sub Peter Borho tripled.  Jim Keinath was 4/4 followed by three hits from manager Jim Kreidler (triple, three RBI) and John McGuire (triple). 

Canyon State Air - 20    Cooler Tymes - 16

A donnybrook was had as Canyon State Air (tied for 1st) outlasted Cooler Tymes.  Jesse Nelson (double, home run, five RBI), Doug Center and Gary Krause slapped four bingos each for CSA.  Steve Ibey, Ralph Benjamin, Moose Mantha, Christina Clark and Bob Ottum (two doubles) poked three pops apiece for Canyon State.  Manager Mick Conway doubled and plated three mates for CSA.  Dave price (triple) was 4/4 and Jim Sanders, Trevor Cornett (double), sub Peter Borho, Steve Sanderson (triple, double) and Dan Mellon lined three hits each for Cooler Tymes.

Paul Tone Insurance - 18    Desert Rose - 6

This was an easy one for Paul Tone as they outhit (29-14) Desert Rose and coasted to a win.  Manager Mark Kisala (triple) and Ron Toel were 4/4 to spearhead Paul Tone.  Art Barr, Perry Tasky (double) and Jay Stahl (three RBI) slammed three bingos apiece for PTI.  Mike Sendelbach tripled for the winners.  Dan Frank (double) and Shank Suelmann lashed three base hits for Desert Rose.  Gary Willis doubled, tripled and drove in two teammates for the cement men and manager Dennis Christenson doubled for Desert Rose.

Sun City Mechanical - 15    Daily News Sun - 7

Four big innings and this one was over from the start as Sun City Mechanical handles the news boys.  Huge day for Rich Duval was 3/4 (double, triple, home run, three RBI and sub Jim Kreidler (home run) stroked four safeties each for SCM.  Ken Hill, manager Dwight Nichols (double), Gary Rose (two doubles, three RBI) and Tom Dorraugh lined three hits apiece for Sun City.  Tom Tripp poked four hits for Daily News Sun and Wayne Haddy slammed three and plated two batters. 

Encore Floors - 18    Saini Smiles - 17

This was a nail-bitter as Encore Floor scores one in their last at-bat after Saini Smile came back with six in their half of the inning.  Manager Tom Theoharis (double, three RBI) lined four hits to lead Encore Floors.  Tim Davis, sub Dwight Nichols, Jim Mayo (triple, four RBI), Steve Cate (triple, three RBI) and Case Grintjes added three pops each to aid the flooring cause.  Sub Tom Dorraugh and Glenn Seeley doubled for the victors.  Ken Boyd, manager Rich McAndrews (triple) and sub Ron Cultum rose for the occasion with four pops each for Saini Smiles.  Cal Goings and Fred Mathew (triple, double) smashed three base hits apiece for Saini Smiles.

Western Bank - 11     Sun Dome Plaza - 10   

Another close tilt as Western Bank survived a five-run seventh by Sun Dome Plaza.  Sub Tim Davis, Doug Darling and Larry Thorson (two RBI) smacked three hits each for the winners.  Ky Slickers (double, three RBI) in his two at-bats for Western Bank.  Judy Christ doubled the bankers.  Gene (eyes) Boettcher tripled and poked four safeties for Sun Dome Plaza.  Dan Kindler and Tim Heenan rapped three bingos for The Plaza.  Boettcher and Heenan had two RBI’s apiece for SDP.

 

What can we say!  Bookseller conducting a market survey asked a woman, “Which book has helped you most in life?”  The woman replied, “My husband’s check book!!”  Cynical Philosopher:  If I had a dollar for every girl that found me unattractive, they would eventually find me attractive.
